Word is spreading like wildfire about Ma'alaea Grill's new seafood buffet that runs 5 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
It debuted just last week in the harborfront restaurant next to Maui Ocean Center with beautiful sunset views, plentiful foods from the ocean and live music by Benoit JazzWorks taking it over the top.
"This is the new face of Ma'alaea Grill," says Managing Partner Luke Lansman. "My business partner, Tanya Dorn, and I are trying to fill a void to offer an affordable seafood buffet on this side of the island. There isn't anything like it and it's for kamaaina and visitors."

Even better news is, those who dine early and are seated before 6 p.m., and those who arrive late and are seated after 8 p.m., get $5 off the buffet. Keiki 5 to 12 years old are charged $14.95 and those under 5 are free. Kamaaina should also ask for discounts - from 6 to 8 p.m.
"We've really kept the prices down, so everyone can come and enjoy it, even in these tough economic times," says Lansman.
The buffet is situated in such a way that you can see full ocean views, when piling your plate with items such as island fresh ceviche, Ma'alaea lettuce cups, and bay shrimp poke. Salads include cold pea, local taco, Kula Caesar and Upcountry baby greens.
The hot stations feature steamed white rice and whipped mashed potatoes along with all-you-can-eat of prime rib and crab legs.
Other hot specialties include seafood pasta, blackened mahimahi, macadamia-nut chicken along with assorted sides and freshly baked bread.
Do save room for the dessert station, which will delight those with a sweet tooth with its chocolate fountain and fresh fruit, cookies, brownies and marshmallows all displayed and ready for dipping.
Ma'alaea Grill is also open daily for lunch from 10:30 to 4 p.m.; happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m.; and for dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Local-style plate lunches go for $7.95 and there's a whole lot more.
"A few of our favorites include the grilled shrimp salad, fresh catch of the day and crabby club, with snow crab, crisp bacon and Haiku organic farm greens with tomatoes on fresh focaccia," says Lansman.
You may even order the triple-threat three-egg omelette and Ma'alaea loco moco. Call 243-2206.
