WAILUKU - The Wailea Community Association gave $1,000 to Imua Family Services to support Camp Imua, a weeklong recreational camping experience for children with special needs.

Through its Community Relations Committee, the association provides financial assistance to Maui in several ways, including grant funds to nonprofit agencies.

Camp Imua 2010 will be held in June 11-18. It will mark the 34th edition of the event, which served 50 school-age youths last year.

Examples of activities that complement the camping experience are a visit to the Maui Ocean Center, Piiholo Zipline rides, ocean kayaking and helicopter rides in the West Maui Mountains.

Camp Imua also offers parents and caregivers a much-needed week of respite.

It is supported entirely by corporate, foundation and individual donors.

Imua Family Services provides comprehensive early childhood development services, support and other resources to children and their families; the goal is to help them achieve full potential in life.
