‘Business of Art’ class
KAHULUI - Big Island artist Ira Ono will teach his annual "Business of Art" workshop for VITEC - Office of Continuing Education and Training from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Maui Community College.
The workshop covers every aspect of what it takes to be a successful artist in Hawaii.
Topics include: pricing your product for profit; creating a competitive edge for foolproof presentations focusing on buyers of galleries, gift shops and department stores; creating multiples for increased sales; what to look for in hiring trustworthy home workers, independent contractors and other studio help; Internet marketing; trade shows; visual merchandising and affordable display techniques; and packaging and presentation for wholesale, retail and fine art gallery sales.
Ono is the founder of The Art of Trash shows throughout the state. He has presented this course on Maui several times.
