"Some Aerosmith band members just popped into Wow-Wee Kava Bar & Grill on Dairy Road in Kahului for kava drinks, and all who were there had a treat," says owner Michael Capuano.
Ren's Sushi Bar is situated prominently inside Wow-Wee and diners may easily catch all of the action when they order fresh-fish concoctions, either seated in front of the expert chef or from any table.
Ren's and Wow-Wee will continue the fun with another Art Night Party from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday. Check out the photography of Angelina Hills, Anne Provost, Norma Kress and John Glomb as you listen to Latin, pop and salsa music by Dr. Nat.

Ren’s Sushi Bar owner Ren Padilla showcases the baked Alaska roll, which is a California roll on the inside, topped with salmon, tobiko, eel glaze, green onion and bonito flakes.
Sip Coronas, tequila shots or margaritas for $3 each and enjoy 15 percent off all sushi. Ren's Chef-owner Ren Padilla will tempt you with the Bomb, a roll packed with cool crab, hot and crunchy tempura shrimp and asparagus, topped with unagi, tobiko and avocado.
"We bought this place about one and a half years ago," says Ren's wife, Jovy Padilla, of the sushi bar. "Our hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on the weekends we often stay open longer. We're flexible."
Ren grew up in the restaurant business. His dad was head chef of the Officer's Club in San Bernadino, Calif., and in that capacity he cooked for the queen of England. Ren came to Maui on vacation and was hooked, eventually becoming sushi chef of Kincha. He's also wowed crowds at Ichiban and Rockin' Sushi.
"He even has a background in French cooking," says Jovi, obviously proud of her husband. "Everyone in his family is a great cook."
A new item Ren recently debuted is the Maui roll, filled with crab, avocado, macadamia nuts and fresh mango. The spicy ahi roll is another winner.
"The locals love to come in and order the spicy ahi roll," says Jovi. "It's a top seller and so are the rainbow and the baked Alaskan rolls."
Craving a salad? Ren makes a creamy ginger dressing that is the perfect marriage for the crunchy calamari salad as well as the blackened ahi salad. Last but not least, hot items such as the baked oysters, the baked mussels and the dynamite with scallops and mushrooms in a mayonnaise-based sauce are must-tries. Call 871-5050.
