Kiffmann athletes capture six golds

LAHAINA --- Athletes from Kiffmann Taekwondo claimed six gold medals on Saturday at the fifth annual Maui Open Taekwondo Championship at the Lahaina Civic Center.

Miles Kiffmann won the gold medal in the junior featherweight division, defeating Alec Coopman and Chris Young. Kiffmann also took the silver in the men's flyweight division after losing to U.S. national team member Jarred McKee.

U'i Jones won golds in the junior featherweight division and in senior fly.

Kellen Bean won gold by defeating Seok Jin Lee from South Korea in the junior flyweight finals, while also receiving silver in the 11-13 black-belt feather division.

Kaylee Calubaquib won gold in the 11-13 welterweight black-belt division.

Camryn Henry captured the gold medal in the fin 11-13 division, and Alicia Schmidthans won silver in the 11-13 female fly division.

Jake Bonnell got silver in the welterweight division after losing to Nigerian national team member Saturday Bashir.

Brandon Yoshikawa won the silver medal in the 11-13 black-belt fin weight division.

Bradley Castro won silver in the men's featherweight division. Christian Sialana and Johnathan Baisa each won bronze medals in the 11-13 flyweight black-belt division.

Youth tennis clinics will be offered

KIHEI --- The South Maui Parks and Recereation Department will conduct junior tennis clinics for youths 5-16 who have never played before or have limited experience.

The classes will run from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4 and are limited to 20 participants.

Big Island, Maui Little Leagues merge

WAILUKU --- The Big Island (District 4) Little League has merged with Maui, Molokai and Lanai (District 3), according to district 3/4 administrator Naomi Campbell.

The Big Island will be a separate area of District 3 but will be administered by Campbell.
