Bernard Albert Johansen, 77, of Waimea, Hawaii, died Oct. 29, 2009, at North Hawaii Community Hospital in Kamuela, Hawaii. Among his survivors is a daughter, LeeAnn (Henry) DeLima of Pukalani.
Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Nov. 10 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, with a celebration of his life at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 (Section B). The family requests aloha attire. Flowers and lei are welcome.
Mr. Johansen was born July 30, 1932, in Kapa'ahu, Puna, Hawaii. He retired from Hawaii Electric Light Co. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and in the U.S. Marine Corps retiring after serving in the Vietnam era.
He is also survived by his wife, Cecilia L. Johansen; three sons, Aldan (Dru) Johansen, Mark (Marcia) Johansen and Jason (Charlene) Johansen; three sisters, Leifi Leolani Pratt-Hao, Carol Chan and Gladys Santos; and 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
