WAILUKU - Trash was not picked up on two county routes Monday.
The Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division, said that a Kahului route was missed due to a staff shortage. The refuse is expected to be picked up today.
The affected areas include the Legends at Maui Lani between Puumakani Place and Komo Place; and the Hoomoku Loop/Hoomoku Street area.
In Lanai City, the route usually picked up Monday and today is being affected by mechanical problems with the truck. A part is on order.
In the meantime, customers are asked to place their trash in sealed plastic trash bags and to take the bagged refuse to the Lanai Landfill if their container is full.
