Cyr tied for 70th after first round of Q-School second-stage event

MCKINNEY, Texas --- Sam Cyr shot a 3-over-par 74 in his first round of the PGA Tour qualifying tournament's second stage on Wednesday, leaving him in a tie for 70th place.
Cyr, a 2005 King Kekaulike High School graduate, started on the 10th hole and had four bogeys - including three in a row on the 14th through 16th holes - and one birdie.
Luke List of Reston, Va., was the leader after a 64. Eric Meierdierks of Wilmette, Ill., was second, two shots back.
The top 21 players and ties will advance to the final stage, scheduled for Dec. 2-7 at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla.
The top 25 players and ties at the final stage will receive PGA Tour cards for 2010. The next number of finishers nearest 50 will be fully exempt on the Nationwide Tour, and the rest of the field will receive conditional Nationwide status.
