KAHULUI - Nineteen students were inducted into the Psi Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Maui Community College.
The induction of the students into the honor society for two-year colleges worldwide occurred in a ceremony Nov. 19.
The students were: Danette Arrojo, Dawn Augustin, Kekaihalai Avilez, Jennifer Berce, Ryan Buckley, Arrianna D'Orsay, John Hada, Stephanie Harrison, Kahala Johnson, Kalani Kapu, Loretta Lau, Nathan Lau, Patty Lau, Shawna Martin, Susan Marvin, Eun Mi Min, Alina Rhoades, Mary Smith and Barbara Williams.
Established by Missouri two-year college presidents in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society recognizes and encourages academic achievement of two-year college students. In 1929, the American Association of Community Colleges recognized Phi Theta Kappa as the official honor society for two-year colleges. The society has more than 1.3 million members and 1,200 chapters in all states, U.S. territories, Canada and Germany.
