WAILUKU - The county Department of Finance is reminding property owners that Dec. 31 is the deadline to file applications for real property tax exemptions, condominium use classifications and agricultural use valuations.
In addition, in order to qualify for exemptions, landowners need to file their deeds, leases or other documentation with the state Bureau of Conveyances by Dec. 31.
Landowners affected by the deadline include people claiming the basic home exemption, charities using their property for nonprofit purposes, public utilities, low-income housing, disabled veterans, people with disabilities, child-care providers, taro farmers, deployed military personnel and people applying for the circuit-breaker tax credit.
Applications filed after the deadline will be processed for the 2011-12 tax year.
