LAS VEGAS --- Brandon Visher's opponent for his World Extreme Cagefighting debut has been changed, the mixed martial arts circuit announced Tuesday.
Visher will face Courtney Buck at the Palms Casino Resort on Saturday.
''A fight's a fight,'' said Visher (16-0), a 2002 graduate of King Kekaulike High School who signed with WEC after claiming the Up & Up Extreme Cagefighting 145-pound title.
Visher had been scheduled to fight Tyler Toner, who was forced out due to injury, the WEC said.
Buck (6-1) had been fighting in Minnesota's Brutaal circuit.
''No guy wants to take a fight on short notice,'' Buck said. ''Any guy in my position, though, when you're trying to come up and get to the next level, you just stay in shape and be ready, whether it's for a local show or a big show.''
Visher has experience both boxing and wrestling. Buck said he prefers standing up.
''I'm in the Midwest, so wrestling is worshipped out here, but a lot of guys didn't come up wrestling at all,'' he said.
Buck said Brutaal offered a ''good diversity of guys.''
Each fighter has taken a look at some video of the other.
''I got to see a 30-second clip,'' said Visher, who arrived in Las Vegas on Tuesday. ''He likes standing up. I didn't see too much of his wrestling.''
Buck, who said he planned to leave for Nevada on Wednesday, said: ''The minute the deal was proposed, I tried to go online to see what I can see, and I was impressed.''
The WEC, owned by Zuffa, LLC --- the same parent company that owns the Ultimate Fighting Championship --- stages bouts at 155 pounds and below. The lowest UFC weight class is 145-155, in which B.J. Penn of Hilo holds the title.
