The Maui News

KIHEI - The Rev. Robert Graetz will be the guest speaker at Kihei Lutheran Church worship services and adult forum Sunday, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday.

Worship services are at 8 and 10:30 a.m., with the adult forum beginning at 9:15 a.m.

As a Lutheran pastor in an African-American congregation in Montgomery, Ala., in 1955, Graetz became involved in the Montgomery bus boycott through his friendship with his neighbor, Rosa Parks, who was credited with starting the boycott. Graetz worked with Martin Luther King Jr. for several years in the civil-rights movement.

Kihei Lutheran Church is located at Piilani Highway and Moi Place. For more information, call 879-7979.
