HONOLULU (AP) - The union representing University of Hawaii professors has reached a tentative labor agreement with university administration.
Both sides announced the agreement Saturday but said no details would be released until University of Hawaii Professional Assembly members were briefed on the terms.
The union said an electronic ratification vote is set to begin Thursday and last through Jan. 26.
The agreement comes a day after professors received paychecks that were reduced by almost 7 percent.
The cuts followed recent declarations by President M.R.C. Greenwood that pay cuts would be imposed in order to help the university stabilize its finances.
The union represent about 3,600 faculty members who teach at the UH system's 10 campuses.
