Heatin’ up the dance floor

February 14, 2010
The Maui News

Maui firefighters from the Kihei and Wailea stations were the hits of the Kaunoa Senior Service Nutrition Program's Valentine's Day Dance on Friday morning at the Kihei Community Center.

"He's cute," Betty Criste joked when she returned to her table after dancing with Cliff Nakoa. "He's handsome, just the kind of man I'm looking for. Too bad he's so young."

Richard Clayton said that Linda Rafnan "wore me out." "I told her, you lead and I'll just follow."

Firefighter Larry Crilley had fun spreading Valentine's Day cheer Friday.

He said the fire crews hoped their visit would help spread the word about fundraising attempts for Jacquline Wenzler-Steves, a young Maui girl battling bone cancer.

"We open our hearts to the community, and we hope they can open their hearts to Jacquline."
