This week the Maui Police Department and Maui Crime Stoppers seek the public's help in identifying a person responsible for trying to sexually assault a victim at Maui Waena Intermediate School in Kahului.
About 1:30 p.m. March 25 in a campus restroom, an assailant confronted a female, who said she was able to fend off the attacker.
She described the suspect as a young local male, slender, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, barefoot, and wearing Quiksilver surf shorts, a faded gray Maui Waena Intermediate School T-shirt and a necklace of large white puka shells.
Anyone with information concerning this attempted sexual assault is asked to call Maui Crime Stoppers at 242-6966. Neighbor Island residents can call toll free at (888) 242-6966. Callers remain anonymous and are given a code number.
Maui Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of people responsible for felony crimes; the recovery of stolen property or seizure of illegal drugs in felony cases; or the capture of felony fugitives. Consider all wanted people as dangerous. Do not approach, try to follow or take other action that could put one in danger.
