The Maui News

KAHULUI - More than 1,200 Jehovah's Witnesses are expected to meet Saturday and Sunday at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center for their 2010 annual circuit assembly.

The assembly theme is "Safeguard Your Spirituality," based on Bible verses Romans 8:5 and Jude 17-19.

The program will alert participants to "distractions that consume our time and divert our attention from what is truly important."

Representing the Hawaii branch of Jehovah's Witnesses, William Driver will speak Saturday on "What Characterizes a Spiritual Person" and Sunday on "Maintaining Spiritual Health in a Sick World."

Jeff Maielua, a traveling representative of the branch, will give presentations on "Put on the Lord Jesus Christ" and "More Than All Else, Safeguard Your Heart."

Sessions will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a noon break both days. Saturday's session only will be held simultaneously in English in the Castle and McCoy theaters, and in Spanish in the Alexa Higashi Room.

Sessions will be free, with no collections to be taken.
