Acclaimed chef Roy Yamaguchi will be on island for a special dining event you will want to attend. Sunday, he'll team with his culinary staff at Roy's Kahana to create a five-course wine dinner, with seatings from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The first course will be a nod to the Maui Onion Festival as he's a competing chef this Saturday. The dish is Maui Cattle Co. surf and turf roll with caramelized Maui onions, kiawe-smoked soy sauce and crispy Maui onions as garnish.
Other courses include Haiku farm-raised pork belly with Waipoli baby-watercress salad, fresh hapu'upu'u with Maui-onion soubise and chardonnay cream; Maui beef tenderloin and oxtail katsu with local root vegetables and Kula wild-morel mushrooms; and dessert of warm Kapalua apple-banana tarte tatin. Cost is $75 with wines, plus tax and tip. Call 669-6999.
