A classic, classical music on display

(First photo) Maui Classical Music Festival music director Yizhak Schotten shows off his 430-year-old viola to Kihei Charter School students Thursday after performing for a school assembly. The festival begins 7 p.m. Saturday at Makawao Union Church, with performances of Beethovan, Bach and Brahms pieces. The festival also has performances scheduled for Monday at Keawalai Church in Makena; Wednesday at Wananalua Congregational Church in Hana; and May 7 at Makawao Union Church. All performances begin at 7 p.m. Suggested donations are $25 for adults, $10 for students. For more information or reservations, call 878-2312.
