KAHULUI -- Power has been restored to about 1,400 Kahului customers who were left without electricity when a short circuit occurred on a power line on Dairy Road about 9:17 a.m. Tuesday, said Kau'i Awai-Dickson, spokeswoman for Maui Electric Co.
Power was returned about 10 a.m., she said.
The cause of the outage remained under investigation, but it was likely sea salt corrosion on the power lines, she said.
The blackout affected traffic lights along Dairy Road, the Maui Marketplace, Home Depot, Wal-mart and parts of the Kahului Industrial Park and the Maui Lani subdivision.
