KEEPING AN EYE OUT FOR SPEEDERS

May 20, 2010
The Maui News

First Photo: Eha Street resident Alan Enomoto (above) keeps an eye on traffic Wednesday afternoon while daughters Mele,13, and Nichelle, 11, wave signs as part of a neighborhood campaign to slow drivers down.

Second Photo: Daughter Desirelle Enomoto (left), 5, also joined the sign waving. "I've lived here 10 years, and there have been six or seven accidents right here," Enomoto said. He said drivers cruising through the Wailuku neighborhood near the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center often hit speeds of 20 to 30 mph over the limit. "There is no reason for it," he said.
