Moving alongThe Sabado ohana is throwing a grand opening celebration for its new Sabado Art Studio, School and Gallery, located at 49 N. Market St. In conjunction with Wailuku First Friday festivities, a private party will run from 4:30 to 9 p.m., with a second celebration open to the public from 4:30 to 9 p.m. June 12. Phil Sabado will unveiling his latest "Queens Bath" series.
To get there from Market Street, turn left on Vineyard Street, turn left into the municipal parking and enter the studio through the gates. The studio is near First Hawaiian Bank. Chinese lanterns will mark the spot. RSVP by calling 249-0980 or 280-4529.

Crystal sculpture by Maui Crystal
Lahaina Arts Association will honor the creative life of Gianna Marie Mitchell (June 5, 1978- Nov. 1, 2009) with its "Birthday Bash 4 the Luv of Art" Saturday at Longhi's restaurant in Lahaina. The evening will kick off at 8:30 p.m. with a silent art auction that includes members of the Lahaina Arts Society, Wyland Galleries and independent local artists. A Hawaiian blessing with be given at 9:30 p.m., followed by live music by Marty Dread & Unifiers and special guest Ryan Palma.
Cover is $10, or half-price with an art supply donation at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Lahaina Arts Association and Ebb & Flow Arts. For details, call 276-7762.

The Maui Crystal glass benders will be featured from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday as they demonstrate their creative lamp-working techniques at Images Fine Art Gallery in Lahaina.
Maui Crystal is owned by local flame-working artist Sean Price. The group also includes the work of brothers John and Charles Lindquist along with Nathan Belmont. With 25 years combined experience, the artists are known for their marine life sculptures. Following in the tradition of the legendary Murano glass artisans, Maui Crystal artists use the same technique of flame working the glass by hand. See their live demonstration at Images Fine Art Gallery, located on Front Street in Lahaina behind The Hard Rock Cafe. Pupu for the event will be provided by Ruth's Chris Steak House.
