HI Art Magazine is looking for a few good faces. The publication is once again hosting its Faces of Hawaii photo portrait competition, open to Hawaii residents of all ages. Entries must be submitted no later than July 15.
This year's juror is Kapulani Landgraf, instructor of Photography and Hawaiian Visual Art at Kapiolani Community College. Paia Tattoo Parlor will host a joint exhibition showcasing etchings and woodcuts by Nichol Markowitz and fiber art sculptures and installations by Casey Neumann at 6 p.m. Saturday. Images Gallery in Lahaina will host artist Sterling Ross from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday. A lifelong resident of Maui, Sterling graduated from Maui High School and went on to earn a degree from the Art Institute of Phoenix. After moving to Australia, he began to integrate his design ideas with his fine art photography. Upon returning to Maui, he began to "blur the lines between photography and painting."

The former Cafe Marc Aurel - the new Wailuku Coffee Company - is hosting a reception and photography exhibit by Joyce Chin beginning Saturday to July 31. An artist reception will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the coffee house, located at 28 N. Market St. in Wailuku. Chin's images are primarily inspired by nature.
