FREE MUSIC AT WAILUKU LIBRARY

Maui Musician Jordan Tolentino will perform at Wailuku Public Library at 2 p.m. as part of the 2010 Hawaii State Public Library System's Teen Summer Reading Program Finales. Admission is free. For information, call the library at 243-5766.

WAILUKU'S FIRST FRIDAY

It's a First Friday not to miss on?Market Street in Wailuku. Maui Thing's second anniversary celebration "Free to Be" starts at 6 p.m. and features music by Na Hoku Hanohano winner Willie K and a fashion show to debut the shop's new summer line. Local models will strut down the runway donning fun and free summer fashion while grooving to Willie K. The birthday bash will benefit Mana'o Radio, with 15 percent of the night's sales going to the nonprofit radio station. Maui Thing, a local-owned shop in the heart of Wailuku at 7 N. Market St., creates original, eco-friendly and fashion-forward designs that embrace "all the good things on Maui." For more information on "Free to Be," visit www.mauithing.com. First Friday runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m., and streets close at 6. The night also features Gallerie Ha's Poetry Slam at 8 p.m., Wailuku Coffee Co.'s grand opening, Pam Petersen Band live at Wailuku Banyan Tree Park, live music by Gene and Shea Arge fronting Cafe O' Lei, and Native Intelligence, along with an awa bar, food and drinks.

Get buck-wild on the dance floor with Grammy-nominated rapper duo LMFAO at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center's Castle Theater. Redfoo (Stefan Gordy) and Sky Blu (Skyler Gordy) are taking a break from their world tour with Black Eyed Peas to pump up the crowd during their first performance on Maui. The MACC is saying it will be "the electro hip-hop concert of the year." DJ Lucky Lou opens at 7:30 p.m. The show many contain adult languages and themes. A dance floor will be set up near the stage. SATURDAY, JULY 3

FAT FREDDY'S DROP

Fat Freddy's Drop will take the audience on a musical journey through genres like no other live band can, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center's Castle Theater. The band fuses skanking urban Pacific roots, soul, dub, jazz and electronica into hypnotic and thunderous grooves. Fat Freddy's Drop won "Best Live Act" at the New Zealand Music Awards in 2004, then released their first record "Based on a True Story" in 2005. BBC Worldwide voted it as "Album of the Year." Fat Freddy's Drop is comprised of producer and band leader, Fitchie, vocalist, Joe Dukie, saxophonist, Warren Maxwell, trumpeter, Toby Laing, trombonist, Joe Lindsay, guitarist, Tehimana Kerr and keyboardist, Iain Gordon. Special guests include Tiva & Pacific Vibes and DJ Boomshot. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 on the day of the show.

SUNDAY, JULY 4

'ON THE RADIO'

King's Cathedral/Un2One Productions presents "On The Radio," a musical event featuring hit songs from the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, at 7 p.m. at King's Cathedral. Admission is free. For details, call 871-7311.
