Ready ... set ... paint!
The Great Makawao Paint-Out Invitational 2010 is set to begin as the islands' premier plein air artists compete for seven days, from crater to coast, creating hundreds of paintings in pursuit of numerous coveted awards. Viewpoints Gallery in Makawao will host the festivities, which include a lineup of free events open to the public. Load up the station wagon, pack in the kids and a lunch, and join the excitement!
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday during the Makawao 4th of July Parade when all the artists are lined up and down the parade route, as they compete in a Quick-Draw: a two-and-a-half-hour race to the finish, culminating in a display and sale at 12:30 p.m. in Viewpoints Gallery.
