KAHULUI - The "brown bag" lunch workshops at Maui County Business Resource Center open this month with Susie Thieman of MEO Business Development Corp. explaining the reasons for writing a business plan in "The ABC's of a Business Plan" from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Participants will receive an outline of the business plan taught by MEO Core Four Business Plan course.
Other workshops include:
"QuickBooks for Small Business" from 5 to 8 p.m. July 15 with Richard Kehoe, certified public accountant and lead SCORE counselor. There is a $45 fee.
"Creative Cuts, Strategic Sense" from noon to 1 p.m. July 20 with Leslie Mullens, PlayBook Consulting Group's president and the Small Business Administration's 2010 Financial Services Champion. She will offer tips and tools for creative cost-cutting that makes strategic sense heading into the economic upturn. Participants should bring a current balance sheet and profit-and-loss statement to make the most of this workshop.
"Government Contracts for Small Maui Companies" from noon to 1 p.m. July 22. MEO's Business Development Corp. is partnering with the Hawaii Procurement Technical Assistance Center to assist businesses in becoming successful federal government contractors. Evette Lau of MEO's Business Development Corp. will lead the workshop.
"Starting a Business in Maui County" from noon to 1:30 p.m. July 28 with Anna Ribucan of the Maui County Office of Economic Development.
"Business Financing Available!" from noon to 1 p.m. July 29 with Thieman.
Unless otherwise noted, workshops are free and held at the Maui County Business Resource Center at Maui Mall.
