The Maui News

MAKAWAO - The 10th annual Growing Dreams benefit for Maui Youth and Family Services will feature Colorado florist BJ Dyer.

Dyer will weave a Broadway theme into the event scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Four Seasons Resort in Wailea. The fundraiser will feature a lunch, floral design workshop and live and silent auctions.

Dyer is co-owner of Bouquets, an award-winning Denver retailer and event decor company with four stores.

Since 1985, he's provided decor for hundreds of showpiece galas and society weddings. Bon Appetit Magazine listed Bouquets among American's top 10 florists.

Tickets to "Growing Dreams on Broadway" are $125, or $150 for VIP seating. Guests may purchase tickets online by visiting website www.myfs.org and going to the Growing Dreams page.

Organizers also seek corporate sponsors donors of auction items.

For more information, call 298-1755.

Teena Rasmussen, owner of Paradise Flower Farms on Maui, is chairing the Growing Dreams on Broadway fund-raiser.

"As fun and glamorous as Growing Dreams always is, we want to remember what it's all about," Rasmussen said. "Ultimately, the show helps Maui Youth and Family Services to continue to provide services for Maui's abused and neglected children, including crucial foster care, mentoring and support."
