The second annual "Family Day: A Community Celebration of the Arts" is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center in Makawao. Packed with entertainment and activities, the free event will feature live music by Maui's own An Den, drop-in workshops in artist studios, face painting, food and a scavenger hunt. Family Day marks the closing of the Hui's 2010 Youth Art Exhibition that highlights work by children participating in the summer art camp program, Camp Kaluanui. Themes featured in this year's Youth Art Exhibition include "Super Size Me: Imaginative Magnitudes" and "The Cryptid Zoo: A Menagerie of Cryptozoology," among others. "A truly creative and dynamic experience, Camp Kaluanui helps spark engagement, discovery and self-expression in an historic, rural environment offering fresh air and room to explore," according to an announcement.
The Hui is located at 2841 Baldwin Ave. For more information, call the center at 572-2750 or visit www.huinoeau.com.
