CHILD CARE CENTER TO HAVE OPEN HOUSE

LAHAINA - A new infant-toddler child care center at the Na Hale O Wainee Resource Center in Lahaina will hold a blessing and open house at noon Aug. 25.

The center will provide child care for eight children ages 6 weeks to 3 years old as part of the Early Head Start program provided by Maui Family Support Services Inc.

The child care center was made possible with the help of Maui Family Support Services in partnership with Maui Economic Concerns of the Community Inc. Funding for the child care center came through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and Maui County.

FORUM WILL FOCUS ON DISABILITY ISSUES

WAILUKU - The 15th annual Maui Disability Alliance Legislative Forum is set for 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku.

At least 25 candidates and incumbent legislators have committed to attend. Hawaii's elected government officials and policymakers at the federal, state and county levels have been invited to participate.

Individuals with disabilities and their families will provide a panel presentation on disability issues ranging from housing and transportation to family support and education.

There is no charge for the event or for a spaghetti dinner.

HOSPICE DIRECTOR TO SPEAK TO AARP

KULA - Hospice Maui Executive Director Greg LaGoy will be the guest speaker at Monday's meeting of the Kula AARP Chapter.

Refreshments will be served at 9 a.m., followed by the meeting at 9:30 a.m., at the Kula Community Center.
