Melting Pot stirs up fond(ue) memories

August 26, 2010
The Maui News

Looking for someplace different to dip into? The Melting Pot upstairs at Lahaina Gateway offers a Swiss Alpine fondue experience unlike anything at other Maui restaurants.

"The word is still getting out what fondue is all about!" says General Manager Cindy DelleFave. "Right now, we are really focusing on being a great special-occasion restaurant."

Ask about the Celebration Packages, which can be arranged ahead of time so that when you arrive at your table, you are greeted with everything from roses to balloons to champagne.

The Yin and Yang cocktail is a sweet finale to fondue meals at the Melting Pot. Made with Stoli vanilla vodka, Godiva chocolate liqueur and vanilla ice cream, it’s topped with chocolate shavings.

In addition, the Melting Pot offers kamaaina 15 percent off the four-course fondue extravaganza called the "Big Night Out."

"We have an amazing following from Oahu. They can't believe Maui has something they don't have - so they hit Krispy Kreme and they also head our way!" says DellaFave.

Kamaaina will also find complimentary steamed white rice with the Big Night Out dinner.

"Melting Pot corporate heard our pleas that rice is what locals want, and so they approved our request to add this to our menu."

All diners will find specials each week, including half-price wine night on Sundays; and three-course fondue meals for $29.95, Mondays.

Tuesdays, get a free bottomless chocolate fondue with a minimum purchase of one entree per person. Wednesdays, get 50 percent off entrees the first 50 minutes the restaurant is open. Thursdays, kids eat for free with paying adult. Call 661-6181.
