UH Center offers help for prospective students

September 6, 2010
The Maui News

KAHULUI - The University of Hawaii Center Maui is offering community "drop-in" hours and hosting several degree-preparation workshops for prospective students.

These events provide a chance to get information about bachelor's and master's programs. Workshops and expanded drop-in hours also give students one-on-one access to application and financial aid support and advice on distance-learning programs.

Enrollment is open for spring 2011 programs, which begin in January.

Master's degree offerings include indigenous language and culture education, library science, nursing and special education.

A few of the bachelor's degree offerings include business administration, accounting, psychology, nursing and health care administration.

Priority deadline for admission is Oct. 1. Final application deadline is Dec. 1.

The earlier prospective students apply, the easier it is to access a variety of financial aid options, including scholarships, according to a UH Center news release.

Scheduled drop-in hours and workshops for this month are:

* Degree prep workshop, 6 p.m. Sept. 14 in Laulima Building Room 108.

* Community drop-in, 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 23 and 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 25 in Laulima Building Room 222.
