Filming closes ship memorial

September 9, 2010
The Maui News

HONOLULU (AP) - The Battleship Missouri Memorial in Pearl Harbor is closing down for several days for the filming of the Universal Pictures movie ''Battleship.''

The World War II-era ship was closed Wednesday, and will be closed again today and next Wednesday. Crews shot scenes with the ship earlier this summer when Universal towed it to sea for filming.

A spokesman for the picture told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser there are no plans to move the battleship again.

The movie ''Battleship'' is loosely based on the Hasbro board game of the same name.

It's expected in theaters in May 2012.
