The exercise is meant to simulate a large airplane crash and how emergency workers respond, including those from the police, fire, ambulances, Maui County civil defense, hospitals, airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration.
All flights will continue as normal during the exercise, according to a news release from the DOT. However, the public is being warned that there will be more emergency vehicles than usual in the area and are advised to avoid the airport in Hoolehua if possible.
