Recent photographs of Daniel Sullivan, co-owner of Indigo in Paia, will be showcased at the north shore store's five-year anniversary celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. In October, Sullivan traveled to the villages along the Omo River in Southern Ethiopia, near the border of Kenya and Sudan. His newest work captures images of tribe members who will be cut off from their Omo River water supply by the construction of Africa's largest dam next year. The University of Hawaii Maui College Art Department and Art Club is showcasing student artwork in the campus library. Students have been active this fall with community service projects focused on art, including teaching ceramics at Hale Makua, projects with children living at Harbor Lights, and volunteering as face painters for a Maui County Pumpkin Patch event. The students' original paintings, drawings, ceramics, fashion designs, and mixed-media artworks will be on display through Dec. 3.

Joseph Fletcher's recent plein air paintings are on display now through Dec. 9 at Village Gallery, 120 Dickenson St., Lahaina. The Kula artist ventures through cow pastures, old sugar mills, under waterfalls and into volcanoes to capture the scenic settings of Maui.
