DUI Sentences

The following sentences for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor occurred during the period of Nov. 24 to Dec. 2. The listings include the offender's name, age, residence and charges. First offenders undergo a 14-hour alcohol abuse rehabilitation program, a substance abuse evaluation and have their licenses suspended for 90 days; exceptions are noted.

Wailuku District Court:

Hubert Abac, 29, Pukalani; two-day jail term.

Kira Cairme, 21, Kihei; DUI; $300 fine.

Jennifer Freitas, 27, Wailuku; DUI; $150 fine.

Matthew Gardiner, 35, Pukalani; DUI; $300 fine.

James Hallens, 39, Kahului; DUI; $300 fine.

Joseph G.K. Keau, 49, Kihei; DUI; $150 fine.

Denise Levalley, 47, Kihei; DUI, lack of due care; two-day jail term, $600 fine.

Lahaina District Court:

Wayan Padilla DeCosta, 20, Kihei; DUI, resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle; $550 fine.

Devin Weldon, 20, Waiehu; DUI, duty upon striking; two-day jail term, $700 fine, six-month license suspension.
