Ever since 1983, Four Sisters Bakery has been a staple at 1968 Vineyard St., in Wailuku, selling local desserts. The family-owned firm then launched Four Sisters Kitchen in Lahaina in 2008.
But it didn't pan out. So they packed up and moved one block from their Wailuku bakery into the old Unisan spot on Vineyard and Church streets and opened Four Sisters Kitchen there in December.
The $9.99 lunch buffets are already a popular draw. But the concept is changing, so take note that the food will now take you on a culinary journey around the world each day of the week.

They'll also still stick with the basic premise of always offering salad bar, non-alcoholic beverage, dessert and Filipino fare such as adobo, pork and peas, dinardaraan, pinakbet, pancit and roast pork. This means in addition to the international fare, you'll get all of the above.
Monday now has an American food focus with roast beef, hamburger steak, hog dogs, chicken and more. Tuesday, it is now Italian and Mexican day with a nachos bar, burritos, tacos, lasagne and eggplant parmesan. Wednesdays, take a wok on the Chinese side with Mongolian beef, lemon chicken and sweet-and-sour pork. Thursday, taste Japan and Korea with miso soup, shrimp tempura, teriyaki chicken, meat jun and kim chee.
Friday brings Hawaiian and local food such as kalua pork, squid luau, chicken long rice and beef stew. And Saturdays, it's all about Filipino food along with American and Asian favorites. Kids 5 to 10 are $6.
"We started with just breakfast and lunches, and Friday we'll debut a prime rib and seafood buffet that will run for dinner each week," says Chef-partner Liz Buenafe, one of 12 siblings from the Philippines.
The Friday buffet hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. and the cost is $26.99 per person.
In addition, Sunday brunch will kick off this week from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., complete with waffle and omelet stations, small salad bar and American, Asian, Filipino and local foods. Cost is $15.99.
