Maui Arts & Cultural Center

January 20, 2011
The Maui News
Washington, D.C., reggae band SOJA is returning to Maui to stack out the Maui Arts & Cultural Center events lawn at 7 p.m. Saturday. The band — with members Jacob Hemphill (vocals, guitar), Bobby Jefferson (bass), Ken Brownell (percussion), Ryan Berty (drums) and Patrick O'Shea (keyboards) — is a Valley Isle favorite, and the show is sure to get the crowd dancing to their free-flowing rhythms and lyrical storytelling. SOJA released an EP, “Everything Changes,” in December to add to its already popular body of work, which employs messages that spur reflection and inspiration. Not to mention, SOJA has shared the stage with Citizen Cope, Matisyahu, Ben Harper, Slightly Stoopid, Damian Marley and Steel Pulse, to name a few. Tickets are $25 standard and $55 premium, plus applicable fees, available from the MACC box office, 242-7469, and online at
