The South Shore Tiki Lounge in Kihei draws in the crowds with its kitschy island memorabilia, dance tunes, healthful fare and bar and lanai seating.
"One of our goals at the bar has always been to take the tiki theme further with decor, parties, and now cocktails! " says owner Mikhail Tassi. His wife and business partner, Alma Tassi, agrees. "We wanted to go further with the tiki theme and so we expanded our rum-based tropical cocktails, particularly adding our version of a Zombie.
"After many recipes, we've finally boiled down our favorites to an expanded cocktail menu inspired by a mash-up of tiki classics and our own take on island-style liquid libations. It was truly a group effort with the staff pitching in their ideas. The goal was to try to mix in some tiki classics, but also keep to what's true to Hawaii and our patrons." Call 874-6444.

The Zombie is a serious tiki cocktail with light and dark rums swirled with fresh juices and then topped with a float of 151 rum. Another fun drink is the Haupia, like liquid dessert with ice cream and liqueurs.
