A private Makena beach estate will set the stage for the fourth annual Chefs on the Beach from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 23.
The Rotary Club of Maui's signature fundraiser will dish up gourmet tastes by top Maui chefs, a selection of wines by JMD Beverages, live entertainment and silent auction items.
"The concept of the event is a casual, elegant afternoon chef's festival," says event director Harlan Hughes. "Owner Joe Sugarman has generously donated the use of his property for this event, limited to 350 people."
The new Raku restaurant at Makena Beach & Golf Resort will do California rolls with unagi and tobiko. Monkeypod Kitchen will tempt you with ravioli and seafood chowder.
The Waterfront will do its famous Caesar salads and duck breasts. Brigit and Bernard's will grill lamb kebabs. And Sansei will serve ahi over greens with won ton chips.
Other participating restaurants are A Saigon Cafe, Hana Hou Cafe, Three's Grill & Bar, Roy's Kahana, David Paul's Island Grill, Mulligan's on the Blue and Flatbread Company.
Performers are Fulton Tashombe, Phil and Angela Benoit, and the Hawaiian Serenaders. Wines such as Duckhorn and Miner Family will flow.
