Joint Good Friday service planned
KIHEI - Kihei Lutheran Church and Trinity Episcopal Church by the Sea will hold a joint Good Friday service at 7 this evening at the Lutheran church located at the corner of Piilani Highway and Moi Place.
The service will feature readings of Christ's passion and the extinguishing of candles, and will include Kihei Lutheran's choir and hand chimes group.
On Easter Sunday, the resurrection of Christ will be celebrated at the Lutheran church with services at 8 and 10:30 a.m.
Both services will include Holy Communion, along with the congregation's choir and a performance by a hula group.
Between services, starting at 9:15 a.m., there will be a Keiki Resurrection Celebration, with a congregational luau/potluck lunch to begin at 12:30 p.m.

Easter event to include egg drop
KAHULUI - The Awakening Church celebrates its first anniversary Sunday with the Easter bunny arriving via Alexair helicopter at 10 a.m. at War Memorial Stadium to drop 15,000 Easter eggs for children and their families.
At a 10 a.m. service, the church will give away an X-Box 360, tickets to "'Ulalena" and Atlantis Submarine rides and gift certificates to various businesses. The free event also will feature live music, hula, bunny float rides, bouncing houses and Easter bunny photo opportunities.
The church also will offer services at 8:30 and 11:30 a.m.

Free Easter celebration set
PUKALANI - Pastors Mimi and Bill Mitchell and the Jesus Is Alive Church will host an Easter celebration on Sunday.
A service will begin at 10 a.m., followed by an Easter egg hunt for children.
The free event will include a buffet of roast pork, beef stir-fry, sauteed mahimahi with capers and white sauce, pancit and bread pudding.
The church is at 3700 Haleakala Highway.

Children to lead morning service
LAHAINA - The Apostolic Faith Maui Branch Church will celebrate Easter with a children's program at 10 a.m. Sunday.
The church near Mala Wharf is known for the large "JESUS COMING SOON" sign on its roof.
Pastor Kenneth Alverio invites people to attend. Sunday school children will lead the program titled "Rejoice, Jesus Is Risen."
The program is being directed by Dolly Alverio, and the announcer will be Brooks Carillo.
An evening service will be held at 7 and conducted by adult members of the congregation.

Easter service, egg hunt slated
WAIEHU - Maui Church of Christ announced its Easter service and plans for a children's Easter egg hunt.
Service begins at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by the egg hunt at noon. Adult Bible classes are held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., and children's Bible classes run from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
Maui Church of Christ is at 810 Waiehu Beach Road.
