Safe boating information and free checks and testing of equipment will be offered Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Kahului Small Boat Ramp, part of National Safe Boating Week.
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 26, U.S. Coast Guard Station Maui and the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Office will be offering free vessel safety checks, EPIRB (emergency beacon) testing and registration and ID/contact stickers for canoes and kayaks.
There also will be information on life jackets, classes on boating and boating safety and federal and state rules and regulations, and free giveaways for children.
The Coast Guard will have its 25-foot response boat on display; the Coast Guard Auxiliary also will bring an operational vessel to the event.
In addition to the boating safety activities, the Maui Trailer Boat Club will be holding a swap meet.
The boat ramp is accessible from Kahului Beach Road.
