Cemetery cleanup planned for May 28
HANA - Wananalua Congregational Church in Hana will hold a cemetery cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon May 28.
There are graves at the cemetery that are unmarked. Families who have loved ones buried there are encouraged to help church members with identification.

'Encounters with God' begins Sunday
KAHULUI - Faith Family Fellowship will hold an "Encounters with God 2011" conference from Sunday to May 27.
There will be gatherings Sunday at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and from Monday to May 27 at 7 p.m.
Jerry Savelle will be the guest speaker from Tuesday to May 27.

Former missionary to speak at service
WAILUKU - A former missionary in Japan will share her insights into the culture and relief and recovery efforts following the March 11 earthquake/tsunami at the Iao United Church of Christ service Sunday morning.
Casida Luzares served as a missionary with the United Church of Christ Kyoto Conference. For 22 years, she was an English professor at Kyoto's Doshisha University and was part of the Center for Christian Culture. In addition to English, she taught classes on women's issues and women in the Bible.
While in Japan, she also reached out to Filipinos in Kyoto. She and her husband, Dan Nebres, held monthly Bible study and fellowship with Filipino students and academics in the area.
The service begins at 9:30 a.m. at the church at 2371 W. Vineyard St.

Omwake speech set for May 29
WAILUKU - The Rev. Mary Omwake, a founding member of the Association of Global New Thought, will speak at Unity Church of Maui on May 29, beginning at 10 a.m.
Omwake has spoken at the United Nations for the Season for Peace and has worked on the Syntheses Dialogues with the Dalai Lama.
