AAUW Maui gives $2K scholarships

Three women studying at the University of Hawaii Maui College received $2,000 scholarships from the American Association of University Women Maui Branch.

Shyanne Lecker-Agnew received the Dorothy Shimer Scholarship and will use it to continue her studies in business. She plans to graduate in spring 2012.

Mary Jane Ignacio, who received the Susanne Laval Evers Scholarship, hopes to complete her studies in fashion and business and to graduate in May 2012.

Alina Rhoades, whose designs have been shown at the Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center and other venues, will use her Harriet Haines Memorial Scholarship to continue work in applied business and information technology. She expects to graduate in 2014.

Karen Grafe, president of the AAUW Maui Branch, and Dorothy Tolliver, head of AAUW's scholarship committee, presented the awards at UH-MC on May 3.
