Postal Service offers direct mail workshops

The Maui News

WAILUKU - The U.S. Postal Service will present four workshops on Maui to explain how businesses can reach local markets with their messages quickly, easily and cost effectively.

A program called "Every Door Direct Mail Retail" is aimed at businesses that plan to mail 5,000 or fewer flat-sized mail pieces within an area serviced by a single post office.

"Small businesses are vitally important to the Postal Service," said USPS Marketing Manager Gary Gardetto. "Some may have been reluctant to use direct mail because of the price and perceived complexity of using the product. However, that perception is about to change."

The new program makes it easy and cost effective for even the smallest businesses to advertise by using the Postal Service, he said.

The program is for businesses that want to save on mail preparation time and printing costs as well as eliminate the expense and effort of acquiring and managing mailing lists, an announcement said.

Businesses can reach any designated delivery route with a simplified address of "Postal Customer."

Businesses can mail small volumes at retail using cash, check, debit card or full-pay meter indicia. They need only register to use the new program. There is no need to purchase a permit.

Information on the program is available online at Visit www.USPS.com/everydoordirectmail.

The workshop, "Grow Your Business," will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 10 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Wailuku Post Office.

To make reservations, go online to www.USPS.com/growyourbusinessdays or call (808) 423-3921.
