Festival focuses on young Maui filmmakers

WAILUKU -See if you can spot the Steven Spielberg of the future Saturday when the first Huliau Youth Environmental Film Festival comes to the Historic Iao Theater.

The event will showcase six short environmental films made by students, ages 12 to 18, from 10 different Maui schools.

The event marks the first anniversary of the Huliau Environmental Filmmaking Club, and ticket sales will support continuation of this program. (More information on the Maui Huliau Foundation is available at mauihuliaufoundation.org/home.html.)

Doors open at 7 p.m.; the show begins at 7:30. General admission is $15, youth (18 and younger) are $7 and reserved seating is $30. Tickets will be on sale at the door or on the foundation's website.
