CEO of MEO program to address Rotarians at Casanova's on Friday
MAKAWAO - The chief executive officer of Maui Economic Opportunity' Business Development Corp. will be speaking to the Upcountry Rotary Club on Friday, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Susie Thieman will be addressing the Rotarians at Casanova's Restaurant and Deli in Makawao. The hourlong meeting begins at 8 a.m.
Breakfast costs $13, and members of the public are invited.

Molokai, Maui health care centers awarded $225,000 from nonprofit
HONOLULU - AlohaCare, a local nonprofit health plan, recently awarded more than $255,000 to two Maui health care centers and one on Molokai.
Hana Community Health Center received $75,375 for a blood-pressure control program. Malama I Ke Ola Health Center (formerly known as Community Clinic of Maui) received $107,879 to fund a cervical cancer screening program and Molokai Community Health Center received $72,000, which was used to enhance and increase patient screening and care through its Early Intervention Program.
The awards were part of AlohaCare's recent $1.62 million distribution to health centers statewide.
The funding is part of its Quality Improvement Incentive Program, an annual initiative created to support projects that measurably improve clinical care, services and access to care, especially for Hawaii's at-risk populations, an announcement said.
Arakawa's 'County on Your Corner' event slated for Hana Town Center
HANA - Mayor Alan Arakawa's next "County on Your Corner" event will be from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. June 24 at the Hana Town Center.
Arakawa, Council Member Bob Carroll and members of the mayor's Cabinet will interact with community members and discuss issues.
Also joining Arakawa will be Managing Director Keith Regan, Mayor's Executive Assistant Bill Medeiros, Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff Kit Zulueta and Office of Economic Development Coordinator Teena Rasmussen.
There will be a similar event in South Maui on July 9.
