The Maui News
Fishnets and tattoos don’t begin to sum up the driving force behind Maui Roller Girls, the island’s only female flat track roller derby team with an undefeated record. The team, comprising strong women who are also moms, lawyers, business owners, teachers and more, will take on Hilo at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Maui on Kanaloa Avenue. But the women also like to have fun: The “Summer Shovin’” event will feature music by DJ Blast, food booths by Maui Coast Coffee Co. and Star Anise, and and afterparty at Life’s a Beach in Kihei. Don’t miss a chance to cheer on MRG as they hit the concrete for their second home game. Game entry is free. For details,
