Plantation House debuts new daytime menu

July 28, 2011
The Maui News

Renowned for its sweeping island views and casual island dining, the Plantation House in Kapalua just debuted a slew of new items on its all-day menu. Basically breakfast and lunch are both served all day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

New beginnings include Maui fresh fruit platter; Molokai sweet bread French toast sandwich packed with your choice of Portuguese or country sausage, or applewood-smoked bacon; huevos rancheros; and loco moco in mushroom gravy.

There are two new omelets from which to choose such as the Caprese with mozzarella and Kapalua basil and tomatoes; and the goat cheese and asparagus omelette. You may add lumpy Pacific blue crab meat to the latter as an extra.

Of course, regulars may rest assured the six types of eggs Benedict remain, as do other popular staples. Now you just have more options.

New lunch starters include curried crab bisque that is finished tableside; Kapalua calamari in chili-lime sauce; and sauteed sweet chili shrimp with vegetable slaw fresh from the farm.

"Our main focus is to source the freshest of local ingredients such as Maui Gold pineapple, Ulupalakua strawberries, Kipahulu papayas, sweet Kula onions and spinach, and Kapalua beets," says Stanislaw. "And of course, we use locally caught fish, simply the best on the planet."

Other temptations are Kapalua beet salad, Hong Kong chicken salad, West Maui barbecue burgers, and fresh fish tacos with tomatillo sour-cream sauce and roasted-tomato salsa.
