Lane closures for bridge repair

A motorist in the Kahului Harbor-bound lane of Lower Main Street passes construction crews as they work on the Waiale Road Overpass on Sunday morning. Crews were tackling a bridge railing repair project on the overpass, which closed one lane of Wailuku-bound traffic on Kaahumanu Avenue. The closure will last until repairs are complete, scheduled for Sunday. Traffic on Waiale Road is alternately being narrowed to one lane because of the need to station equipment on the lower road. Contractors Abhe & Svoboda said the round-the-clock closures are necessary because concrete barriers have been erected to protect motorists and workers.
