KOKEE, Kauai (AP) - Four young men are OK after they had to be airlifted out of the Poomau Canyon Lookout Trail.
Kauai police said rescue specialists airlifted two 18-year-old men and two 20-year-old men out of the area around 6 a.m. Sunday after a parent of one of the men reported them missing around 2:45 p.m. Saturday.
The four had left for Kokee on Friday afternoon for what was supposed to be a day hike.
An air crew located the four men Saturday night, but the men could not be airlifted out because of darkness. The air crew was able to drop blankets, food and water down to the men before returning early Sunday.
Police said all four men were in good health and spirits and did not require medical treatment.
