> Don't miss a beat of the 14th annual Heiva I Maui Tahiti Fete, a heart-pounding Tahitian dancing and drumming competition that's been known to pack War Memorial Gym in Wailuku. This year, entertainment with Hawaii musicians highlights the fest, which will kick off with an opening concert featuring Super Dub Tribe from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday. Entry is $10 and includes filming of the group's upcoming music video. The solo Tahitian dancing and drumming contest will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; doors open at 9 a.m. Then, Uncle Richard Ho'opi'i will take the stage for a concert at 7 p.m., followed by Mele Pono at 8 p.m. and closing with a tribute to Ho'opi'i's brother, Solomon, at 9:45 p.m. Group dancing and drumming competition and awards are set from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Tahiti Fete tickets are $10 presale and $15 at the door.
